Teen Summer Reading Program

Reading

Logging begins June 1.
Prize pickup begins June 9.
Log your summer reading and activities in Beanstack to earn badges, prizes, and tickets for our raffle drawings. Paper reading logs will be available upon request.

Volunteering

Students entering 6th grade and older can volunteer as Summer Reading Program Helpers to encourage kids to read and to help kids collect their prizes.  Those who volunteer at least seven hours will be invited to a Summer Reading Program Helper pool party on August 4.

Anyone interested in being a Summer Reading Program Helper must attend one of the following orientation sessions at the library:

  • Wednesday, June 1 at 3:30 p.m.
  • Friday, June 3 at 3:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday, June 7 at 6 p.m.

Visual Journals Workshop

June 13, 15, and 17 at 10-11:30 a.m.
Library Storytime Room
Join local artist Sally Koehler to make your own visual journal.  Snacks will be provided at the end of each session.  Registration is required.

Drawing Manga Workshop

Tuesday, June 21 at 4 p.m.

Learn how to draw manga with Dan Gogh.

Meena Book Club

Tuesday, July 12 at 6 p.m.
Library Rotary Room
Read one or all of the Meena Zee books before the meeting and then join a book discussion led by author Karla Manternach.  Recommended for grades 3-6.  Registration is required.

Create Plastic Bag Yarn

Help the Earth and oceans by repurposing plastic.  Learn how to make yarn (a.k.a. plarn) for craft projects out of plastic grocery bags.
