The following are social groups who consistently meet at Dwight Foster Public Library and welcome new members. These are non-library groups/events.

Fostering Open Minds

Fostering Open Minds

The Fostering Open Minds group hosts a monthly meeting to discuss various social issues. The group meets 7 pm – 8 pm in the FCCU Community Room on the 2nd Wednesday of each month.

This group is a gathering of local folks discussing topics on various social interests and issues of the day.

Genealogy Club

Genealogy Club

The Genealogy Club hosts a monthly club for genealogists and casual family researchers. The group meets at noon in the FCCU Community Room on the 4th Wednesday of each month.

This club is an opportunity for those who research family histories to share sources and support. Local genealogist Larry Horsfall will be leading the group. Interested individuals can come monthly or just stop in for some research support and suggestions on a casual basis. This program is free and open to the public.

Saturday Morning Philosophy

The Saturday Morning Philosophy hosts a lively conversation on a variety of philosophical topics. These conversations are moderated.

The groups typically meets in the FCCU Community Room, but swing by the front desk to know exactly where the Philosophy Group is meeting that day.

US Veterans Project

Veterans Café

Every Wednesday morning 8:30 am – Noon

This gathering is sponsored by the U.S. Veterans Project Library. Don Millar, USMC veteran of the Korean War, hosts visitors with donated snacks and information. Veterans, their family members and the general public are welcome to stop by, have a donut and visit with the group. Bring your questions about serving in the military, military history or services for vets.
