Resources for Educators

The Dwight Foster Public Library offers a number of special services for educators. The following is a list of resources we currently offer, but we are always willing to work to meet the specialized needs of each school or educator. If you have questions or want to learn more about any of these programs or collections, please contact Youth Services Librarian Minetta Lippert at or 920-563-7790.

Teacher Collections

Save time by letting us help you gather books for a particular theme or class project.  A librarian will put together a collection of books about your desired topic. To request a collection, contact the youth services department at least five days prior to the date you need the collection. Let us know what topic you are interested in, how many books you need, and details about your students.  Once your collection is ready, the librarian will notify you that your materials can be picked up.

 Storytime Outreach Visits

Minetta can plan a specialized storytime for your students and come to your school to lead it. Storytimes consist of books, songs/rhymes, and fingerplays based on a theme.  Storytimes are geared for your students’ age group and can be based on any theme you choose.

Visits to the Library

Bring your entire group to the library for a tour and brief talk about library materials and/or a storytime session. Contact Minetta to schedule a visit.

Breakout EDU

The Dwight Foster Public Library owns two Breakout EDU boxes.  Educators may borrow one or both of the boxes to use with their group.  Contact the youth services department to reserve a Breakout EDU box.  Learn more about Breakout EDU here.

Learning Games

The Dwight Foster Public Library now circulates learning games for young children. Half of them are in English and half of them are bilingual English/Spanish. We do not allow holds on the learning games but you may renew them up to three times.

Big Books

The Dwight Foster Public Library owns a collection of Big Books that are perfect for reading aloud to a large group.  Big books check out for three weeks.
