2018 Big Read

Book Giveaway – Thursday, March 22
Books & Brews Book Discussion – Wed. April 18 at 6:30

UW-Whitewater has partnered with the National Endowment for the Arts to bring us another Big Read program. The title is The Round House by Louise Erdrich. It also includes her children’s title The Birchbark House. The Dwight Foster Public Library will have copies of both books to give away on March 22 until they are gone.

We are also hosting our first Books & Brews book discussion on Wed. April 18 at the Cafe Carpe. We will be discussing The Birchbark House, a children’s book in the style of the Little House books. Birchbark House takes place roughly at the same time as Little House in the Big Woods. It is the story of an Anishinabe community on Madeline Island in Lake Superior. You don’t have to read the Little House book but it will help if you are familiar with it. If you are interested in participating in this discussion contact the library at (920) 563-7790 to sign up. Copies of the books will be available in mid-March.

There are many other events happening as part of the Big Read. You can access the complete calendar here.
