Library Computer Use
Make a reservation for a computer in the adult technology room.
The library has 9 computers in the adult reference area, 4 computers in the youth department and 4 computers in the young adult area. The youth department computers are filtered Internet. One of the computers in the adult area is a 15 minute express computer. One computer has a flatbed scanner.
The library uses a computerized reservation system for the online computers. Telephone reservations for Internet time will not be taken. A library card and PIN (personal identification number or password) will be required for reservations and for logging on to the public access computers. PLEASE bring your card each time you come to use the library computers. All patrons will have a time limit of 90 minutes of online time per day. Individuals who are not residents of the area but would like to use the computer will be given a guest pass in lieu of a permanent library card.
All adult computers have Microsoft Office 2007 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Paint and Acrobat Reader. In addition, Work station #1 has the flatbed scanner and has Microsoft Publisher 2007, Adobe Acrobat and scanner software. The youth department computers utilize Open Office software for word processing, spreadsheet and slide presentation applications.
All public computers have USB ports to accomodate USB drives. You are strongly encouraged to bring a USB drive to save your documents. The computers will not allow documents to be saved to the C drive.
The library has a laptop computer available for IN LIBRARY USE ONLY. This laptop can be checked out for a period of 4 hours and may be used for job searches, typing documents, taking tests, applying for jobs, filing income taxes, etc. This computer is not intended for playing games, sending/answering email, shopping or generally surfing the Internet.
Any library patron 18 years or older may use the library laptop. Patrons must have a valid library card that is not blocked by fines or fees. The laptop will be checked out on the library card. In addition, laptop users will be required to show identification (drivers license or state issued ID card) when checking out the laptop.
